Working with EDF Renewables, Batchelor Electrical developed 14 sites for Tesco Supermarkets to their Extra and Superstores across the UK. The national total project involved nearly 5MW of solar PV and 15,000 solar panels installed using high output Trina Solar panels and SolarEdge inverters and panel optimisers linked to the fire alarm system of the store for increased safety.

The system included full design, 3D modelling, DNO and grid applications together with installation in house by Batchelor Electrical, test and commissioning and an ongoing maintenance contract.

The 539kWp system at Bicester is forecast to generate nearly 500,000 kWh per annum of solar energy, offsetting the store’s current demand by over 18%, with nearly 100% utilised on site.

The site was recently showcased by EDF in a recent national TV campaign about Britain’s net zero journey – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rTCZazKDM0
